On May 17, 2016, six field agents for Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) in BASECO, Manila received a certificate as private service providers (PSP).
The newly-certified PSPs will continue the work they began with SILC groups that formed independent of CRS support. The certification process awarded by CRS included training in facilitating SILC groups, financial literacy, sharing of best practices in forming new groups and continuing existing SILC groups.
Recalling the past, Victoria Prinsica, Janet Bargo and Luzviminda Ferrer, all SILC members, shared their stories on how the SILC helped them in saving for their family. They already experienced the benefit of SILC when after eight months, their group has already disctributed the money they have collectively saved and grew.
Janet, for instance, said that she was able to renovate their house and without owing money from loan sharks.
