Our CRS/Tacloban celebrated Global Handwashing Day last October 15 at Anibong Elementary Shool in Tacloban City where more than 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 participated.
The Global Handwashing Day is an annual celebration held every 15th of October involving children and schools all over the world to raise awareness on the importance of hand washing with soap as part of the international agenda by the United Nations General Assembly on health. This year’s theme was “Raise a Hand for Hygiene!” as a continuous campaign and call to the entire community worldwide to improve the hygiene practice among children and their families.
In support of the annual campaign, CRS organized several activities to raise awareness on the importance of hand washing with support from the Department of Health and Department of Education.
Some of the activities are in form of contests such as poster making, talent showcase and other games.
There was also a simultaneous hand washing and a flash mob by the students dancing the “Hugasan ang Kamay” song.
